Organizing my workspace

Before:

My sister and I were sharing a two bedroom apartment. She moved out last summer and I decided to use her old room as a studio. Before, my "office" was along the back wall of my living space and was quite an eye sore upon entering my home.

After:

I had more space to setup my desk in a more functional manner as well as more space for my supplies.

Since my studio is technically a bedroom, I have a large closet for storage as well. My next step is purchasing more storage shelving and placing it in the closet. This will allow me to spread things out a little better so it appears less cluttered. Marie Kondo's method of organizing helped me to get rid of a lot of unnecessary clutter and old papers I no longer needed. I also donated some of my art supplies that I was no longer using, so I felt good that some of it was able to go to good use. Marie Kondo practices methods of Shinto, a Japanese religion, within her organization and tidying methods. She believes the home is a sacred space that should be treated with respect, and I agree. My home is my escape from the world so I love when things are tidy. I find I am able to relax more when my space is clean and organized. I am also more productive. That's why a workspace reboot was a necessity!
